"The senses, being explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge….the number of different objects in the world is infinite, while the qualities they possess are limited."

—Maria Montessori, The Absorbent mind

Self Care

We prepare or children to dress themselves, toileting, wear their own shoes, eat their own food and tidy themselves up, as per their capacity and stage of development.
These activities are vital in the overall development of the child. As they are learning to follow a complex motor sequence, designed with the principles of preparing the child indirectly for future learning.

Care Of Environment

We encourage our children to gain Life Skills. These skills work as enablers in developing other skills like Maths and Language.
Children enjoy helping adults with their activities, especially when they learns that their contributions are of value, thus boosting their self-esteem and independence.

Improve Senses

Our sensorial activities are specifically designed to support the development of the child’s brain through sensory exploration.
Montessori sensorial materials support not only the development of the visual sense, but also auditory, tactile (touch), gustatory (taste), olfactory (smell). These activities he develop the ability to observe and compare with precision.

"Any child who is self-sufficient, who can tie his shoes, dress or undress himself, reflects in his joy and sense of achievement the image of human dignity, which is derived from a sense of independence."

—Maria Montessori, The Child in the Family

Mathematics

We aim to provide the child with hands-on experiences during the sensitive period for numbers i.e. (0-6 years), so as child can form positive association with numbers and concepts of mathematics, so that it’s then carried over throughout their lives.
Along with the mathematical concept, children also learn the common language for quantifying, measuring which enable the child to express him / herself confidently and precisely.

Language

At Green Walnut, we encourage a child’s natural language development by  "following the child", and a fair bit of guidance is needed from parents and educators.
Initial six years of a child’s life are crucial for a child’s development. This is the time when children absorb information easily and their development can take a huge leap forward every-day.

Enrich the child’s vocabulary:

From birth to age six the child can learn his language effortlessly and without fatigue.
Our teachers provide opportunities to expand the child's vocabulary, with relevant rhymes and stories. This enable the child to communicate precisely, leading to truly surface her personality and shine.

Write before Read:

At Green Walnut writing starts earlier than in many other settings.
With the aid of Montessori materials, our children strengthen their finger muscles in preparation for the physical act of handwriting. We start this early work in our Toddler and Pre-Schooler classrooms.

Foundation of Reading:

Our teachers use Montessori materials to set a foundation in both reading and writing.
It’s important to note that our teacher, while teaching children about letters, focus on the sounds the letters make, rather on their names. This is helpful in learning to read. For example, when our child learns to spell cat, they will say, “k-ah-t” rather than “see-ay-tee”.

"Children are able to absorb language from their environment and easily learn how to speak, read and write if language in its various forms is present in their environment during the period of the Absorbent Mind "

—Montessori

Cultural Studies also introduces children to the physical world that surrounds them, providing them with the opportunity to explore real things, and learn about plants and animals. This shall include geography, zoology, botany, physics, earth science and social studies.

Creative Learning

Creativity helps growth and learning processes and allows to break out of social and cultural control, become an individual rather than just another face in the crowd.
